It's been a long, hard winter . . . and after a week of spring teasing, and lots of snowmelt, we have a wintry mix back today. If you looked out the window, you'd still see about a foot or so of snow on the level, and plow piles of 4-5 ft lining the roads and driveways. But over the past week we've lost more than half of what was there. Our little town received just under 100 inches of snow so far this winter, which is just over twice our usual average. Some communities got even more, especially those along the seacoast. And it's been cold. We didn't go above 30° for most of Jan and Feb. and were usually below 20°F.

We went to Punta Cana, in the Dominican Republic, for our February break and soaked in every minute of sun, sand, and temperatures in the low 80's° we could. We left New Hampshire in the middle of a snowstorm that left us with 8 inches of new snow, and returned to temps in the 30°s.
But at least the first day of spring is this week, and April isn't far behind!
